It was almost a decade ago that LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat and fans reacted in anger. Fans burned LeBron jerseys and most wanted nothing but bad things to happen to the NBA All-Star. However, James came back to Cleveland and brought them an NBA Championship in his second season back. However, now that Kyrie Irving has announced that he wants out of Cleveland, many fans are taking sides.
Hollywood actor Michael Rapaport is a huge NBA fan and he has taken sides. According to Rapaport, he has chosen "Team Kyrie Irving" over "Team LeBron James."
Michael Rapaport
Michael Rapaport, who starred in "True Romance," went onto Twitter and posted a video of himself.
In the video, he ranted and raved about LeBron James and blamed the King for the entire situation. According to the actor, LeBron "fu**ed up" and will have nothing as a result.
Rapaport is not just a fan either. He is a huge NBA fan and has been part of broadcasts on both ESPN and Fox Sports and even played in the NBA Celebrity Game over All-Star Weekend. According to Rapaport, he applauds Kyrie Irvi ng on the decision to want to play somewhere else.
Then, Rapaport did something that will make Cleveland Cavaliers fans angry. He made fun of the city. Michael said that Kyrie Irving deserves to play in a city where he could find a "decent bowl of sushi on a Tuesday night." He finished off the video by saying he was proud of Irving.
The Cleveland Cavaliers problem
The biggest problem is that the Cleveland Cavaliers could see their team collapse after the 2017-18 NBA season. LeBron James can opt out of his contract after this season and he said he will not waive his no-trade clause. This means that, if LeBron is unhappy after the 2017-18 season, he can leave and Cleveland will get nothing in return because they can't trade him.
If the Cavaliers trade Kyrie Irving now, they also will lose their best young star. The team signed Derrick Rose, who will probably replace Irving. The problem is that Rose is only signed for one season. The team wanted to trade for Carmelo Anthony but there is little chance he will accept that if he thinks LeBron James will leave after one season.
The problem is that the Cleveland Cavaliers don't know what the future holds because of LeBron James, which does make him partially responsible. He isn't the only problem either. The Cavaliers also chased off general manager David Griffin - someone both LeBron and Kyrie Irving liked. That is also a huge reason that this entire situation is unfolding.
