‘Nature Boy’ Rick Flair to support Kane’s candidacy for mayor

Former World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) superstar Kane will enter a new battle, this time in the political arena as he runs for mayor of Knoxville County, Tennessee. Kane, whose real name is Glenn Jacobs, will have a familiar ally on his side as “Nature Boy” Rick Flair expressed his desire to support the former WWE champion in his quest to win his candidacy.

In a video that Jacobs posted on his Twitter account, Flair has promised to join Kane’s campaign rally on July 12.

"I will be there live and in color to support my very close friend, Glenn Jacobs,” Flair said before ending the video with his trademark sign-off “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Kane promises better life for Knox County

In his campaign video, Kane said that in his career as a professional wrestler, he has been blessed with the opportunity to travel all over the world and see all the communities that the country has to offer. “In my opinion, Knox County is the best place to live, work and raise a family,” said Jacobs, adding that he met the love of his life in Knox Country 22 years ago.

“We decided to make this place our home and to raise our family here. Everyday, I am thankful that we made that decision,” added Jacobs, who will run as Republican.

As his campaign platform, Jacobs said he will work with local businesses to ensure that they have everything they need to succeed. He also commits to coordinate with teachers and administrators to ensure that Knox County school produce a competitive and world class workforce that attracts new businesses and create jobs. “I will work to make sure that government remains open and transparent so that every citizen of Knox Country has a voice in the mayor’s office,” said Jacobs, adding that he will fight to keep government small and taxes law.

Kane cites Ronald Reagan in campaign video

Kane cited a quote from late President Ronald Reagan, who once called America a shining city on a hill. “Let’s make Knox County an example of what a shining city looks like. Let’s make Knox County the standard bearer for the rest of Tennessee,” he ended.

Kane is not the first wrestler to run for public office. Jesse Ventura became the mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota from 1991 to 1995 before he was elected governor of the state in 1999, serving until 2003. Recently, Terrance Gerin, who is known as Rhyno, lost his bid to become a Michigan state representative in 2016. Last year, Booker T announced his plan to run for mayor of Houston in 2019.
