The 2017 NFL season is still just over two months away but the betting odds are up in Vegas and casinos have chosen their picks for the top two teams of the season before it gets started. According to Vegas odds, the New England Patriots are favored to make it back to the Super Bowl once again but their opponents will be the Dallas Cowboys. In 2016, the Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs and the Atlanta Falcons made it to the Super Bowl.

2017 NFL betting odds

The Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas has released betting odds on every single possible Super Bowl LII matchup for 2017.

There are 256 different options for a Super Bowl, taking each team and matching them up against each other and the one that offers the overall best odds are the Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots.

According to the Golden Nugget, the Cowboys vs. Patriots offer betters 7-1 odds, which means that a person would bet $1 to win $7 if that matchup actually happens in Super Bowl LII. The next best odds are the Patriots vs. Packers at 8-1 odds. A rematch in the Super Bowl, with the Patriots and Falcons playing again are 10-1 odds. As for the least likely matchup, the New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers checks in at 5,000-1 odds.

New England Patriots in 2017

Seeing the New England Patriots in three of the top matchups tells fans all they need to know about the team's chances in 2017.

The Patriots pulled off the biggest come-from-behind win in Super Bowl history over the Atlanta Falcons after finishing with the best record in the AFC. That made them a good contender to repeat.

However, what really put the Patriots over the edge was that they didn't rest of their success. They added a top-flight wide receiver in a trade with the New Orleans Saints and Tom Brady has the best weapons right now of his entire career.

A Super Bowl is an expectation in New England.

Dallas Cowboys in 2017

The Dallas Cowboys made the playoffs in 2016 with the best record in the NFC and they did it with a rookie quarterback in Dak Prescott and rookie running back in Ezekiel Elliott. Both players are a year older and the Cowboys really improved their defense this year in the NFL Draft.

There is no reason to think the Cowboys can't improve in 2017. They almost beat the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs and now they are better. Thinking that the Dallas Cowboys could make it back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the '90s is dreaming for Cowboys fans but Vegas believes it could happen.
