On Tuesday evening, the Boston Celtics looked like they were going to suffer a home court loss to the visiting Washington wizards. Thomas propels Celtics' win
In the Boston Celtics' Game 2 win, Isaiah Thomas finished with a career-high 53 points for his playoff performance.
Thomas shot 18-for-33 from the floor including his 5-of-12 three-point shooting and 12-for-13 free throw shooting. He also dished out four assists, grabbed four rebounds and had three steals. Teammate Al Horford had 15 points along with 12 rebounds and three assists, while Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley each added 14 points.
On the losing side, the Washington Wizards got 40 points from their leader John Wall He shot 16-for-32 and also dished out 13 assists. Marcin Gortat had 14 points and ten rebounds but fouled out in the overtime session. Markieff Morris also fouled out but added 15 points and six boards. The Wizards also got double-digit scoring from Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr., Kelly Ombre Jr., and Jason Smith in the loss.
The Wizards jumped out to a 42-29 lead after the first quarter and were up 67-64 at the half. They continued to lead after three-quarters, but Boston hung in there and ultimately forced overtime. In the extra session, the Celtics outscored their opponents 15-5 with a surge to get the win. While Washington barely won the battle of the boards 44-41, Boston shot 51.1 percent for the night while the Wizards shot 46.5 percent.
The Celtics also had 34 free throw attempts compared to just 22 for the visitors.
