The Golden State Warriors took game one over the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night at Oracle Arena. It was a great overall performance by the Warriors' superstar trio. Draymond Green had an outstanding game on both ends, as he finished the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, five blocks, and three steals, while shooting 6 of 10 from the field and 3 of 4 from downtown. Kevin Durant had a double-double with 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Stephen Curry finished the game with 29 points, five rebounds and four assists. The Warriors shot 53 percent from the field and 40 percent from downtown.
Klay Thompson added 15 points for the home team, while Ian Clark added 12 points off the bench.
The efficiency of Portland's duo just wasn't enough
The Portland Trailblazers' duo of C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard led the visitors with 75 points combined, as they scored 69 percent of all the team's points. Damian Lillard had 34 points, while shooting 12 of 26 from the field, while McCollum scored 41 points and grabbed eight rebounds, with an excellent shooting percentage of 57 percent. Evan Turner added a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, while Maurice Harkless had eleven points for the visitors. The Trailblazers' bench was awful as they scored only nine points, while shooting 3 of 14 combined.
Al-Farouq Aminu went scoreless in 23 minutes on the floor. C.J. McCollum looked unstoppable through the first three quarters, but the Warriors found a way to guard him late in the game and the Trailblazers fell short in the end.
Late defensive plays were crucial for Golden State
The game was tied at 88 after three quarters. Then, the Warriors provided some great defensive plays, especially Draymond Green, who ended the game just one assist and two steals short of a 5x5 triple-double game on his stat sheet.
After three quarters of Portland's great offense, the Warriors held the visitors to just two points in a five-and-a-half minute span of the final quarter. That was a crucial period of the game, as the home team outscored Portland 33-21 in the fourth quarter and won the game 121-109.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 pm.
