Milwaukee nearly completed a shutout against Colorado, but more importantly held on to get the 6-1 victory over them on Wednesday night. The Brewers put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth and then tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Rockies were held scoreless until the ninth inning when they were able to push a run in, but it was too little, too late for the club.

Starting pitcher Wily Peralta picked up the win giving up just three hits and fanning five batters in five innings pitched. Rockies' manager, Bud Black, complimented the Brewers' strength after the game.

Rockies offense finally gets cold

At some point, the injuries were going to come back and hurt Colorado. That was certainly the case on Wednesday as the team was much colder on offense. First baseman Mark Reynolds (.545) recorded two hits and brought in a run, continuing his hot start to 2017. He had his third double of the season and fifth RBI. However, only three other batters collected a hit, and the batting order struck out nine times.

Three runners were left in scoring position.

Rockies starter Tyler Chatwood picked up the loss after giving up four earned runs on seven hits in six innings of work. He gave up two home runs as well, and relief pitcher Jordan Lyles also gave up a late home run in the eighth inning.

Brewers are efficient in win

Milwaukee only got one batter to walk, but they were able to make the most of their hits by smacking ten balls in play and generating six runs. Second baseman Jonathan Villar, first baseman Eric Thames, and third baseman Travis Shaw all collected their first home runs of the season. Thames and Shaw had their jacks in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-0 early on. Villar had a two-run shot off of relief pitching to make the deficit unreachable at 6-0.

The Brewers' winning pitcher was very happy with his performance in the victory after the game. He said that he felt like was able to regain the heighth of his pitches after being in the minors. His relief pitching also helped him out. Despite giving up five walks among the four relievers, only Taylor Jungmann gave up two hits and a run late in the contest. Neftali Feliz picked up the save.

The long four-game series comes to a conclusion on Thursday where Milwaukee is looking to even things up. First pitch is at 1:40 PM Eastern time at Miller Park. The game will be broadcast on MLB.tv, FSN Wisconsin, and Root Sports Rocky Mountain.
