Just when you thought you had heard it all from the Ball father, he comes through again with another controversial statement. LaVar Ball has the utmost confidence in his son, Lonzo Ball, who is projected to be a top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA draft. For the UCLA Bruins this season, the freshman is averaging 14.6 PPG, 6.1 RPG and 7.7 APG shooting 54.4% from the field and 41% from three point territory. But is LaVar Ball just a little too confident with his young boy's basketball abilities?
LaVar Ball makes huge statement
When people discuss the best basketball player in the world topic, usually it only involves players in the NBA, but the father of Lonzo Ball has gone as far as to say that his 19-year-old son is better than any player in or out of the NBA.
LaVar told TIME in an interview: "To me, Zo is the best player in the world" adding "yes, even better than all-stars, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook." This is one of LaVar's craziest statements to date. I believe it's fair to say that a UCLA player that has not yet played a minute in the NBA isn't nearly on the level of a guy who has 4 MVP's, three championships or a guy currently averaging a triple double over a season, but hey, LaVar Ball sure thinks so. It will be interesting to see if LeBron James or Russell Westbrook don't take these comments lightly, and attempt to destroy the rookie in his first season in the NBA.
It's not the first time
Yea, it's not the first time LaVar Ball has made a crazy statement like this.
LaVar has gone as far as to say that Michael Jordan could not beat him one on 1, that's coming from a guy that averaged just 2 PPG in college by the way. LaVar seriously said he would "kill Michael Jordan one-on-one." He's also said that Lonzo Ball will be "better than Steph Curry in the NBA," a guy who's won two NBA MVP awards.
You get the point, LaVar Ball has made a lot of comments about his son, LaVar has tremendous confidence for his son. But he better hope his son lives up to it, or his comments will come back to bite him.
