The Sweet 16 field of March Madness has been set and it includes the seventh seeded Michigan Wolverines. Michigan got hot in the Big 10 tournament and won it, entering the tournament at a torrid pace. They kept up that torrid pace by scoring over 90 points against a similarly matched Oklahoma State team. In the second round, Michigan didn't need to lean on three point shooting and instead leaned on big man Wagner, who scored a career high 26 points. Could this team now go all the way?

Striking Similarities to UCONN Champions.

Shabazz Napier helped lead UCONN to a shocking national championship as a 7 seed.

The Huskies won with a combination of impressive shooting and excellent guard play, which helped them pull off shocking upsets against both Florida and Kentucky. The players on that team were very similar to the ones on this Michigan team.

Derrick Walton is a very tough guard who gets to the rim and finishes when given the opportunities. Zak Irvin is a huge shooting guard who also knocks down open threes. And big man Moritz Wagner proved that he is certainly no joke with a huge game against Louisville. Big man D.J. Wilson has also started to emerge as a solid option. And because this team has so many three point shooters, they are extremely difficult to guard.

Path to the Final Four.

The first team Michigan will have to defeat on their way to the Final Four is #3 seeded Oregon.

Many believed Oregon would lose in their first two games thanks to the absence of big man Chris Boucher, but Dillon Brooks and the Ducks have battled through it, winning two straight. To defeat Oregon, Michigan will again need to score a ton of points and hit a bunch of threes.

They will then have a date with Kansas, one the best remaining teams in the NCAA tournament.

Frank Mason and Josh Jackson are two of the best players in the nation, and Michigan will need to play at their best to reach the Final Four. At that point, Michigan will have to beat some very good teams to get into the national championship and win it.

A team that was once on the bubble now has a chance to advance to the Final Four. Derrick Walton and the Wolverines are hot at the right time, let's see if they can finish it off.
