Between the 27th of February and the 4th of March, some of the finest male tennis players are set to play at dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. Amongst them, Roger Federer is by far the most attractive name. The Swiss already made a statement by winning the Australian Open earlier this year in what was a beyond epicness final having Nadal on the other side of the net.
Federer took some time off, and now that he is in Dubai's main draw fans are expected to fill up the stands to their top capacity.
Some huge matches could emerge
Federer is not the only ATP top player to compete.
Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Gael Monfils and Tomas Berdych are also the ATP stars expected to put in some great tennis next week.
Judging by the ATP ranking situation, Murray will be the first seed, followed by Stan Wawrinka (the defending champion). Roger Federer would come the 3rd in the line of seeded players. Therefore, a Murray vs Federer or Wawrinka vs Federer clash could happen no earlier than the semifinals stages.
In his way to a potential new ATP title in 2017, Roger Federer still might bump into Berdych, Monfils or the young star Lucas Pouille.
These are just assumptions and more things are going to be put in the balance once the draw will emerge.
For Roger Federer, the ATP event from Dubai is a beloved place where he always felt good.
Throughout his career, he won 7 times the men's singles contest. The last time Federer made it to the end in Dubai happened back in 2015 after a straight sets victory over Novak Djokovic. Last year, Federer did not play in Dubai as he underwent a knee surgery that almost ended his professional tennis career.
Expectations are growing around Federer
Winning the 18th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, Federer brought back to life a serious dose of expectations. Back in 2016, everyone enjoyed the time he spent on the ATP Tour with no special hopes, but now, in the light of his recent success, hearts and minds of people are being given new ways to eclipse the inexorable flow of time.
