13 Reasons WhySeason 2 Release Date buzz has been a big thing on social media lately. Now, fans of the show finally have some information from Netflix. According to a press release from the network, the second season of “13 Reasons Why” will be available on May 18. That’s less than three weeks until viewers can find out where the story is heading next.

For the first season of the show, cassettes were used to reveal a lot of the story. Those cassettes had been recorded by high school student Hannah Baker, who left them behind to relate the story of why she ended up committing suicide.

Now, it appears that the cassettes are going to be replaced with Polaroids for the second season.

Netflix statement for the second season

Along with a teaser trailer for “13 Reason Why” Season 2, Netflix also released a description of what will take place in the second installment. While it does give some hints as to what is about to happen, it doesn’t go too far with its revelations. That leaves a lot to the imagination of the viewers and former readers of the original source material. Viewing the trailer isn't a requirement for watching the second season, as almost nothing is revealed in it. It is truly a teaser trailer in order to increase the interest level in the show returning. It has done exactly that, as this week the buzz for the show has increased across social media.

Here is the press release from Netflix: “Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed.

A series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.”

The cast returns for the second season

After having 13 episodes in the first season, there are also 13 lined up for the second season. The first season followed the primary characters of Hannah and Clay. Hannah, played by Katherine Langford, ends up committing suicide, leaving behind cassette tapes to explain everything that happened.

Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette, serves as the physical main character, as Hannah narrates everything through the tapes. This leads to a lot of flashbacks, as his story is revealed at the same time as hers.

The dual narratives made it a very strong show with viewers and critics alike. So what happens next? Viewers will need to tune in on May 18 to start binging episodes of “13 Reasons Why” Season 2. The tag phrase for the season states that “The tapes were just the beginning.” Ominous indeed. It sets the stage for more revelations and for even more drama among the main cast members as repercussions for actions may be on the horizon.
