Since Kylie Jenner revealed on February 4th that she is now the mother of a beautiful baby girl, fans have anxiously waited to hear what she would name her first child. The wait is over. Jenner shared an adorable snap of her newborn grasping her finger on Instagram and captioned it “Stormi." She later edited the caption of the snap to read, "Stormi Webster." Webster is the last name of Travis Scott, Kylie’s boyfriend and the father of her child, whose full name is Jacques Webster.
What does the name mean?
There is no word yet on the meaning behind the little girl’s chosen name, but her rapper dad has a history of paying tribute to his family using names.
He explained to Complex in 2015 that his stage name was in honor of his favorite uncle whose name is Travis and was nicknamed Scott. He added that he admired his uncle, saying, “He is smoothe. Travis is smooth. I’ve always been smoothe.”
E! News reported that the name had been chosen for some time and Jenner had even had some baby items she purchased, including a crib, customized to include the name “Stormi” on it. Fans expected that the name of the newest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan would be along the line of flowers, after a “C-shaped” flower arrangement was gifted to her by Khloé Kardashian.
Another theory was that the Jenner-Scott baby would be named something along the lines of “Butterfly” because of Kylie’s love for butterflies, Scott's song "Butterfly Effect," Jenner and Scott's matching butterfly tattoos, and the butterfly necklace featured in the "To Our daughter" video were just a few possible indicators.
Top secret pregnancy
Jenner shared the news of her baby’s birth with the world via an Instagram post on Sunday, apologizing to her fans for keeping them in the dark after she made the surprising choice to keep her pregnancy private.
Kylie and her family members refrained from posting about or even publicly acknowledging her pregnancy.
She explained in her post that she chose not to publicize the journey in order to prepare herself for motherhood in “the most positive, stress-free, and healthy way.”
The new parents were first linked in April 2017, weeks after the Lip Kit creator broke up with on-and-off boyfriend, Tyga. The pair were reportedly spotted looking flirty at Coachella.
Kylie has previously been open about her desire to start a family and be a young mom, telling ELLE U.K. in 2015 that she would love to give up her life in the spotlight to have a family and a home with a farm in Malibu Canyon.
