Lady Gaga and Senator and former vice president Joe Biden have both been busy going across the country lately, for very different reasons. Lady Gaga has been back on the road with her ‘Joanne” World Tour, and Joe Biden has been talking about his loving memoir, “Promise Me, Dad,” which chronicles his and his family’s loss of his son, Beau, to Glioblastoma brain cancer.
Both these prominent people share a passionate desire to be of service, and use whatever spotlight they have to focus on the needs of others. That common bond provides the perfect opportunity for the two to form a lasting cooperative effort to protect those who have already been made to feel trapped and powerless.
Women transitioning from life-threatening situations of abuse will have havens of safety, treatment, and transition assistance in the form of trauma centers per the initiatives of Lady Gaga and Joe Biden. There are no political angles to this outreach, only pure extensions to needs from the heart.
Help so needed
From small-town Alabama to Hollywood, and all points in between, the floodgates of forced silence by those abused perpetrated by those in power have yielded to endless accounts that cannot be dismissed or kept in whispered quiet. Refinery 29 reported via Entertainment Weekly Joe Biden’s clear compassion and understanding of the growing crises for women across age, ethnicity, and socio-economic lines.
Senator Biden eloquently described the “long-term physical and physiological problems” suffered by abused women.
Biden was a featured guest at the Glamour Women of the Year Summit, and announced, “I’m working with Lady Gaga now.” The partners have plans to “set up trauma centers where women can go to get the help they need,” across the country.
Familiar territory
Lady Gaga and Joe Biden have been public crusaders for the cause of helping abuse victims before. They mounted the national It’s On Us campaign in 2014 to promote awareness and action against sexual assault on college campuses.
Lady Gaga has courageously shared her own story of being a victim of sexual assault.
She has openly revealed her own struggle with “the aftermath” of attack, stressing “It can be terrifying waking up every day feeling unsafe in your own body.”
Lady Gaga created a landmark moment in the movement at the 2016 Oscars, when she performed her “Till it Happens to You” with heartrending passion and truth, surrounded by other survivors “inscribed” on their bodies, ending the silence.
Joe Biden is delighting in seeing his son’s legacy live on through his grandchildren, and won’t say anything definitive about a presidential run in 2020. Lady Gaga ran to the rescue of a bleeding fan named Meredith the middle of her Connecticut show days ago.
The “Come to Mama” singer exhibited all the tenderness of a mama bear with her cub when she saw the girl bleeding from the face following a hit.
Meredith was treated by paramedics and treated to a special a cappella version of “Paparazzi” and a backstage pass.
Lady Gaga and Joe Biden are pals committed to making positive differences that people feel.
