Harvey Weinstein just lost the mini-major film studio he co-founded with his brother, Robert, in 2005. Now, the controversial movie mogul is losing his family in light of sexual assault allegations pressed against him. The 65-year-old film producer was first mired in multiple accusations after a publication exposed his sexual misdeeds over the weekend.
He was accused of using his power to take advantage of some of his female employees as well as celebrities he has worked with in the past. Angelina Jolie recalled her "bad experience" with Harvey Weinstein that made her decide to stop working with him.
“This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable," she said.
Celebrities respond to Harvey Weinstein scandal
Gwyneth Paltrow, on the other hand, claimed she was sexually harassed by the movie mogul after he gave her the lead role for "Emma" in 1996. The actress, who was then 22 years old, said she was petrified of what she had experienced in the hands of the producer.
Hence, the "Iron Man" alum shared what happened to her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, who reportedly confronted and warned Harvey Weinstein. After the encounter, the movie mogul allegedly called to ask Gwyneth Paltrow to keep her mouth shut on the incident. “I thought he was going to fire me,” she recounted. "He screamed at me for a long time.
It was brutal.”
In the wake of the scandal, Harvey Weinstein's other half, Georgina Chapman, announced her decision to leave her husband. She also asked the public to respect her and their children's privacy amid the ongoing issue of their father.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions," she said, according to an ET Online report.
Inside Harvey Weinstein's marriage with Georgina Chapman
Georgina Chapman shares two kids, India Pearl (7) and Dashiell (4), with Harvey Weinstein. The couple tied the knot in 2007, three years after the producer separated from his first wife, Eve Chilton, with whom he had three children.
Georgina Chapman's decision to end her decade-long marriage with Harvey Weinstein came after a growing number of women came out to testify against the award-winning producer.
Lindsay Lohan, on the other hand, called out the fashion designer and asked her to "be there for her husband" as he faces the allegations.
Celebrities and women's advocates slammed the former film studio executive over his alleged sexual misconducts. Even actors, who have previously worked with the producer, have spoken up to condemn his actions.
To be clear what Harvey Weinstein did was a disgusting abuse of power and horrible. I hope we are now seeing the beginning of the end of these abuses.
