“Game of Thrones” Season 7 finale officially ended with a lot of cliffhangers although we hope to get answers once the eighth and final installment premieres in 2018 or 2019. We’ve seen how the Night King (Richard Brake), who was already in command of the now ice dragon Viserion, managed to destroy one massive barrier in The Wall. The undead army was behind them marching south and all are ready to spread the terrifying Long Night throughout Westeros. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) mourns the death of her beloved dragon when the King of the Undead killed him using an ice javelin.
Now, it seems that the fates of the three dragons have something to do with the dead major characters in the show.
Viserion
“Game of Thrones” fans know that Dany named her three dragons after the three men he loved. Viserion was named after her brother Viserys, who treated terribly her and even sold her to Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) in exchange for a crown. However, the Khal treated her like a queen after proving to him that she could also reign and eventually he considered her his Khaleesi. Drogo then killed Dany’s mad brother using a molten gold (fire). In contrast, The Night King killed Viserion with an ice spear.
Drogon
Apparently, Drogon was named after Drogo, Dany’s beloved Khal. A fan believes that the dragon will be the one to champion Daenerys.
"I don't believe he will die because Drogo promised to conquer the lands for [her], and he will. He will also be the one to kill Viserion, the ice dragon, as the man did to the brother,” wrote Reddit user mybustersword. Another Redditor, Fishingfor, added that Drogo was wounded on his shoulder while the dragon also got a wound from Bronn (Jerome Flynn).
Rhaegal
Interestingly, Gendry (Joe Dempsie), the bastard son of the late King Robert Baratheon might have something to do with Rhaegal’s unfortunate fate. The dragon was named after Rhaegar Targaryen, Dany’s uncle, Lyanna Stark’s husband and the biological father of Jon Snow a.k.a Aegon Targaryen (Kit Harington). According to the Redditor, Jon’s dad was apparently killed by the king by “caving his chest in” and suggests that Gendry might kill Rhaegal by accident.
Some fans also suggest that Jon will be the one to ride and be in command of Rhaegal when the Great War sets in - given his Targaryen blood.
What’s your hunch about the fate of these three dragons in “Game of Thrones”? Is it possible or there might be any other bigger exposé coming soon?
