Earlier this year, Monolith Productions’ Michael Forgey, who served as executive producer on "Middle-earth: Shadow of War," lost his battle with cancer. He was first diagnosed in May 2015, and passed away on March 3, 2016. During those trying times, Monolith encouraged players to make a donation to help support his family that he left behind. A year later, the studio is releasing a new DLC character that they created in his honor. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the upcoming game will feature a DLC character named Forthog Orcslayer, who is a "legend among the Orcs of Mordor" and an "unstoppable warrior" who is also savior to Mordor's biggest heroes.
Studio honors late producer with new character
In an official statement from Monolith (via PlayStation Lifestyle), the studio shared that Mike “Forthog” Forgey was a friend who "was always ready to leap into the fray and save the game whenever and wherever he was most needed...The legendary Forthog Orcslayer is our way to continue having Mike leap into battle and save us when we’re down." The studio said that it was their way of remembering and honoring him with "a little bit of immortality" in "Middle-earth: Shadow of War."
Trailer features 'Silicon Valley' actor Kumail Nanjiani
According to Gamespot, Monolith's "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" has been putting out trailer after trailer and in July, one trailer featured "Silicon Valley" actor Kumail Nanjiani.
In it, the actor talks about his character, the orc Agonizer, who he says "wants to be badass, he wants to be cool, but he really second-guesses himself and he overthinks everything." Nanjiani shared that his character "writes insults...[but] is not sure if they're good or he can commit to them." Check out the video below.
Game to be released next month
"Middle-earth: Shadow of War" is the sequel to the 2014 game "Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor," and will feature the same open world environment and played from a third-person perspective.
It will continue the narrative from the previous game and will follow the story of Talion. The character is still possessed by the spirit of the elf lord Celebrimbor and has created the new Ring of Power, which may be controlled so he doesn't turn evil. In the game, players must face Saurun and the Nazgul forces and fight their evil. The upcoming game is directed by Michael de Plater and is set to arrive to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this October 10.
