A new Instagram video post by @mvlanuevaera revealed that the 2017 Miss Universe pageant will be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The video post cited The Miss Universe Organization as the source of this announcement. The caption of the Instagram video stated that this year’s Miss Universe competition will return to the United States and specified that it will be held in the state of Arizona.

“The Miss Universe pageant will come back this year with candidates from around the world vying for the crown that will change their life forever,” @mvlanuevaera captioned the video.

However, there is no confirmation yet from the organizing group as to whether this is an official update.

According to the recent update, more than 80 women from across the world are expected to arrive in the United States to compete for the title. The beauty pageant is an annual event that has been held since the 1950s.

“One of the world’s biggest televised events is here,” the Instagram video post stated. “The wait is over. Live from Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Without a doubt, an amazing year lies ahead... Dreams become a reality. Beautiful faces, perfect bodies. Are you ready?”

Official venue?

There are several venues that were proposed for this year’s beauty pageant. According to KHON2, Honolulu in Hawaii was also considered to be the host location for the event.

Previously, the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu was reportedly agreed to be the venue for Miss Universe 2017. However, after discussions between the organizing group and the local authorities, it was agreed that the arena could not accommodate all the needs of the show. KHON2 said Honolulu was declined as the venue of the pageant.

The city of Manila in the Philippines, the place where the 2016 Miss Universe was held, also came forward as one of the proposed locations. Local reports said that the Philippines was being considered again as the host country.

Last January, the 2016 edition of the pageant was held at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Metro Manila. Model and actress Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines crowned Iris Mittenaere, the delegate from France.

The 2017 pageant

The pageant is reportedly airing once again on FOX on November 26. It will be the 66th time that the Pageant has been held. If it is true that Arizona has been selected to be the host for this year’s competition, this will be the fifth time the United States has played host to the competition.
