#Nina Dobrev and #Ian Somerhalder’s onscreen reunion will not be possible after the Bulgarian-Canadian actress announced that she is no longer interested in reprising the role. Earlier, there were rumors that Nina Dobrev’s #Elena Gilbert will return to the #CW series.
“The Vampire Diaries” spin-off series without Elena Gilbert
The "Mystic Falls" and all her lovers from the show might return but the “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” beauty is not interested in playing the vampire anymore. Nina has made it clear via her recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that she will not return to “The Originals” Season 5 or “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off series.
The “TVD” star said that they have wrapped up the show. She is not looking forward to working on the small screen and eyeing big movie projects. The actress added that she has a lot going for herself professionally and does not see “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off series in her schedule.
The fan-favorite vampire also said that she is not twenty anymore and is too old to be playing a vampire. She said she does not know if she will sign on the show anytime soon.
Julie Plec wants Damon and Elena back together
Nina’s rejection to any future vampire roles seemingly came as a shock to the creator Julie Plec, who still wishes to see entire cast together. She had revealed during her March 2015 interview that she still thinks that “The Originals” characters can tell one or two more stories about themselves.
She added that if not now, then maybe in the future when someone will want it badly, the spin-off series will come into play.
Looks like, fans should not lose hope over seeing Delena onscreen once again. As it was because of Plec’s determination that Dobrev had come back to “TVD” Season 8.
“The Originals” spin-off is definitely on its way
The CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed at their TCA Panel that spin-off series will hopefully be in work soon. He revealed that they are interested in expanding Hope’s character and would like to see her be part of “The Vampire Diaries” universe soon.
Dobrev’s future project
“The Vampire Diaries” beauty will be next seen in psychological horror “Flatliners” by Niels Arden Oplev.
The film is written by Ben Ripley and is said to be a sequel to the 1990 film of the same name. The movie also stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna and James Norton.
Nina will also be joining “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams in a drama movie titled “Departures.” The film is based on health anxiety illness known as Hypochondriasis.
