Tom Holland has yet to debut the new incarnation of Peter Parker in his standalone film, but he wants to play James Bond or Batman in coming films.
The actor said in a statement to Comic Book that he is interested in portraying superheroes. James Bond and Batman are two most iconic characters of Hollywood industry, and he wants to play them in his career. Only a few days are left before “Spider-Man: Homecoming” hits global cinemas, and Tom gets candid about his plans.
Tom Holland – a British actor
Tom Holland has worked in a lot of British films; for the first time, he is set to begin his Hollywood career and looks excited.
He rose to prominence with his appearance in J.A. Bayona’s movie “The Impossible.” Here he played the leading character alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor.
Later on, Tom continued playing supporting characters and finally landed a major role in 2015 film “Spider-Man.” Holland’s first and most prominent role was last year’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and since then he is busy in the shooting of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
He is very much interested in the solo film franchises. At the same time, Tom has shown interest in playing James Bond and Batman. He is continuously looking for new characters as the actor doesn’t want to be known for doing the same things years after years.
Tom Holland told Interview magazine that actress Zendaya once asked him about his career goals.
The 21-year-old listed down all possible milestones he wants to achieve in his life, including some awards; but the best and most surprising bit from Tom’s roadmap is his eagerness to play Batman and James Bond.
His upcoming film
During the same conversation, Tom revealed that he is excited about “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and has worked hard on this project.
This American superhero movie is based on a Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Directed and co-produced by Jon Watts, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is a joint project of Marvel Studios, Columbia Pictures, and Sony Pictures. The film has been scripted by none other than John Francis Daley and features Tom Holland, Tyne Daly, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Robert Downey and Marisa Tomei in leading characters.
Speaking about his character, Tom Holland said that he is playing Peter Parker who receives supernatural powers at the age of 15. Being a child, he doesn’t know how to get benefited from his powers; but as he grows up, Tom develops himself as a brave person and decides to serve the humanity.
Producer Amy Pascal chose Holland after seeing his performance in “Wolf Hall,” “In the Heart of the Sea,” and “The Impossible.” He underwent various screen tests for the character and was recruited to play Peter Parker in 2015.
