One of this year's most successful films is "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," the sequel to the James Gunn-written and directed 2014 Marvel film that took the world by storm. The ragtag team of criminals composed by Chris Pratt's Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana's Gamora, Dave Bautista's Drax, Bradley Cooper's Rocket, and Vin Diesel's Groot was a hit amongst moviegoers who may have seen this formula before with "The Avengers."

Nonetheless, the film earned enough to make a sequel, and with this year's endeavor earning $828 worldwide, "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" is officially a go with Gunn returning to write and direct, making him the first director to helm a Marvel trilogy.

While it may be too early to tell what the third film will tackle, the director already has some things in mind for the third installment. IN fact, he may have hinted at the existence of Quasar in a mysterious tweet posted earlier.

James Gunn tweets about his favorite VCR

"Guardians of the Galaxy 3" director and writer James Gunn recently tweeted a photo of the Quasar VCR, and while some may think this is just a random thought, other MCU fans are seeing a deeper meaning in his tweet.

Upon looking closely, the brand of the VCR is Quasar, which is coincidentally the name of a Quantum Band-wearing superhero in the Marvel Comics. This may indicate that the third installment in the film series will welcome Quasar into the Guardians' squad, just as it introduced Mantis in the sequel.

Who is Quasar?

According to Screenrant, the superhero Quasar's Quantum Bands grant him several powers, including that of flight and energy control. He's definitely more powerful than any of the Guardians, which will prove to be helpful when they take down enemies similar to Thanos, who is set to finally stand up from his throne come "Avengers: Infinity War" and the yet-untitled fourth "Avengers" film.

More Marvel films coming in the next two years

Following the success of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Marvel is also set to release "Spider-Man: Homecoming" this July 7, as well as the highly anticipated "Thor: Ragnarok" this November 3. While the Avengers aren't assembling anytime soon, fans will get to see some of them in this year's films.

Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man has quite a billing in the upcoming "Spider-Man" film, while Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is also playing a supporting role in the third "Thor" film later this year. "Avengers: Infinity War" is set to arrive on May 4, 2018, followed by the fourth "Avengers" film a year later.
