A brand new trailer for “The Mummy” was released online last night. It is believed to be the final clip for the film ahead of its release on June 9, 2017, in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D. Universal Pictures hosted a special event for “The Mummy” in Los Angeles where it unveiled a 75-foot sarcophagus with Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Tom Cruise. The Hollywood Reporter says that the Alex Kurtzman-directed movie is expected to gross over $35 million in the opening weekend, which may or may not overtake Gal Gadot's film “Wonder Woman” in its second weekend.
The film shows a dark universe
The recently released teaser trailer for “The Mummy” is loaded with creepy special effects. It looks like Tom Cruise is fighting against a monster (Sofia Boutella), but it’s too difficult for him to survive. It also reminds us that “The Mummy” is not just a monster movie, but a whole world of darkness where a lot of monsters are ready to destroy humanity. “The Mummy” aims to lay the groundwork for a film franchise, but it has to stand alone as a great movie first.
