It has been a long time for "Outlander" fans when it comes to waiting for season 3. Last we saw our two main protagonists, Claire just found out that her beloved Jamie did not die in battle in the "Outlander" season 3 finale "Dragonfly In Amber." Season 2 was essentially told all in flashbacks, with Claire once more passing through the stones and into the year 1948. And, in the final scene of the final episode of "Outlander" season 3, 20 years had passed, and it's 1968, as an older Claire is faced with the possibility of passing through the stones once more to find her beloved Jamie.
Caitriona Balfe sat down to discuss 'Outlander' season 3
It has become apparent in recent months that many "Outlander" fans have become restless. The on-screen love between Claire and Jamie is so passionately potent that many shippers have resorted to attacking the love interests of the stars in real life. Recently, actor Sam Heughan took to social media to defend his real-life girlfriend from such bullying. Even though Balfe and Heughan are not together in real life, the chemistry that the two share on-screen is so believable that the line between fantasy and reality has certainly blurred for some.
Recently, Catriona Balfe sat down with several publications to discuss what she legally could regarding "Outlander" season 3, according to Celebrity Insider.
"I think this season is going to be really interesting, and it's going to be so new again. I mean. I think we do that every season; we sort of flip it on its head. Last season, we went to Paris and it was something totally different. This season, we start off with a little bit of a separate storyline, which is really fun for us.
We're hoping the fans will be happy."
Where will things pick up in 'Outlander'?
Many fans are eager to know just where things will pick up -- especially after the cliffhanger that viewers were left with when "Dragonfly In Amber" ended. It has been revealed that the first half of season 3 will focus on Claire's uneasy reunion with Frank following her trip back through the stones during the battle of Culloden in 1746.
The first half of season 3 will also show the birth of Claire and Jamie's daughter, Brianna.
At this rate, we also don't know for sure what happened with Jamie during and after the Battle of Culloden. There has been speculation that the next time we see Jamie Fraser, he will be a different man. Still, many just want to see the on-screen reunion between Claire and Jamie, no matter what.
"Outlander" returns to Starz in September.
