Fans will be happy to know that the new episodes of “house of cards” will premiere on Netflix on May 30, 2017.
Immediately after the smashing success of season 4, the streaming giant ordered new episodes of “House of Cards” in August 2016. In the previous season, Frank discovers that Claire is leaking sensitive information to Dunbar, and it’s hazardous for the organization. On the other hand, Lucas Goodwin is released from jail and seeks revenge against Frank.
Netflix spokesman Greg Vekiarellis confirmed yesterday that the new season would debut in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand this month.
“House of Cards” will be launched globally on June 2, 2017, at 12:00 am PT.
The US television series
“House of Cards” is an American web drama developed by Beau Willimon. The story is inspired by a BBC miniseries and based on a book by Michael Dobbs. The 13-episode first season premiered in February 2013 on Netflix, followed by two new seasons in 2015 and 2016.
The streaming service announced the fifth season in January 2017, with Frank Underwood serving as showrunner. To date, the show has received 26 Primetime Emmy Awards, seven Golden Globe Awards, and several nominations. Its most famous episodes are "CWI," and "America Works."
Earlier this month, it was announced that Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson had joined the show, and would serve as showrunners in the new season.
The cast includes Kevin Spacey, Michael Kelly, Robin Wright, Corey Stoll, Kate Mara, Molly Parker, Mahershala Ali, Gerald McRaney, Michel Gill, Nathan Darrow, Rachel Brosnahan, Joanna Going, Sakina Jeffrey, Jimmi Simpson, Sebastian Arcelus, Derek Cecil, Reg E. Cathey, Constance Zimmer, Kristen Connolly, Gil Birmingham, Elizabeth Marvel, Terry Chen, Kathleen Chalfant, and Sandrine Holt.

For the first season, “House of Cards” received ten Primetime Emmy Awards, and became the first web television series to receive plenty of awards. The show won four Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for outstanding cinematography, fantastic music composition, and great camera editing. Its second season received three Golden Globe Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Netflix’s primary business model consists of DVD sales and rental. Since 2009, it is expanding the business with an introduction of streaming media, while retaining the Blue-ray and DVD services. In recent months, the company has invested a lot on the development of original series and short films. No doubt, “House of Cards” is one of its great series. As of April 2017, Netflix has more than 97 million subscribers worldwide, including more than 30 million in the US and Canada.
