Netflix has officially announced that new episodes of “13 Reasons Why” will premiere in coming months.
It would not be wrong to say that the show has received positive comments from television critics and audiences, and is the most talked-about Netflix series on social media. Earlier this month, Hollywood Reporter revealed that the writers had started work on the stories of second and third seasons, which is a confirmation that the new episodes of “13 Reasons Why” will premiere this winter.
However, Netflix has not confirmed whether the flaws of the first season will be fixed or not.
In the previous season, we saw several intense scenes, including the suicide scene of a high school girl, which created a buzz among viewers. Several mental health professionals and suicide prevention experts voiced their concerns about the show, particularly its depiction of deaths.
‘13 Reasons Why’ – the famous series
The story revolves around a female student, Hannah Baker, who attempts suicide and leaves behind several tapes to let the people know everything about her life. The tapes are circulated among classmates, and everyone gets to know that she was raped twice. The first season ended with some threads still loose and storyline left to be pursued. Everything is going to be covered up in its second and third seasons.
“13 Reasons Why” is based on a 2006 novel of the same name by Jay Asher. The cast includes Katherine Langford, Dylan Minnette, Brandon Flynn, Alisha Boe, Justin Prentice, Ross Butler, Miles Heizer, Amy Hargreaves, Devin Druid, Kate Walsh, Derek Luke, Josh Hamilton, Steven Silver, Ajiona Alexus, Michele Selene, Tommy Dorfman, and Sosie Bacon.
Brian Yorkey and Diana Son are serving as showrunners. The first season consisted of thirteen episodes, while the second season will have twelve to fifteen episodes.
“13 Reasons Why” is a joint project of Anonymous Content, Kicked to the Curb Productions, Universal Pictures, and July Moon Productions, with Selena Gomez playing a supporting character.
