It’s becoming increasingly clear to the residents of “Riverdale” that their sleepy little hamlet isn’t bursting at the seams with small-town charm. Murder came to their shores on the Fourth of July and, before you know it, the town morgue will be occupied once more.

That’s right, folks. Another body is primed to drop on “Riverdale.”

Who will die on ‘Riverdale’?

The CW’s spring hit has passed the midway point, but everyone from Jughead (Cole Sprouse) to Archie (KJ Apa) is still baffled by the mystery of Jason Blossom’s untimely demise. The murder board at the Blue and Gold office is growing day by day, fueled by a web of interconnected histories and animosities.

Far from paring down the suspects, our teenage Scooby gang has only managed to increase the number of friends and family under suspicion.

Soon, however, fans might be able to knock at least one person off the list. A second death is in the cards, and one can only presume the Grim Reaper will aim his scythe at someone other than the season’s big bad.

But who? The only clue we have comes from Luke Perry (Fred).

“I felt it was too soon for them, but, at the same time, they deserved it,” Perry (Fred) teased at WonderCon, according to Showbiz Junkies. “It was too soon, but they had it coming.”

Well, aside from Granny Blossom, everyone in the series is far too young to die. As for those who “have it coming,” well, that list is long and varied.

A few guesses, however, point to some of the more notorious baddies – Hiram Lodge, Clifford Blossom (Barclay Hope), or Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel). There are also a few minor characters that could bite the dust, personas that could easily be written out without affecting the main cast.

What’s next on ‘Riverdale’?

Next time on “Riverdale,” Jughead’s birthday party will spiral into chaos.

From unexpected reunions to drunken blackouts and relationship woes, “The Lost Weekend” will be a tough pill to swallow for Archie and the gang (see a preview below).

“When Fred decides to finalize the divorce with Archie’s mother Mary (guest star Molly Ringwald), Archie hides his true feelings,” The CW teased. As Archie attempts to woo Valerie (Hayley Law), “Betty (Lili Reinhart) hijacks his plans when she decides to throw Jughead a surprise birthday party. Once Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) learns of the party, she decides to make it interesting and things quickly get out of control.”

“Riverdale” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
