Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were the most popular couple ever since the "Twilight" co-stars turned their on-screen romance to off-screen. So when the actress was caught in a compromising position with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders, all hell broke loose. While everyone assumed that it was all rainbows and butterflies for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's relationship, the "Twilight" actress shattered everyone's fantasy of a perfect pair by cheating on the actor with the much older director.
Fans unhappy with Kristen's cheating scandal
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson tried to work things out despite the actress' infidelity, but the unfortunate event was clearly too much for the "Maps to the Stars" actor to handle and ended their relationship for good. The former Hollywood power couple then moved on with their lives separately. Robert with FKA Twigs, and Kristen exploring her sexuality.
From the looks of it, the "Twilight" co-stars and former lovebirds seem to be doing well after their break-up, but what about the man who ruined the well-loved "Robsten"? His career was definitely on the line when the cheating scandal was released to the public, and now Rupert Sanders has finally broken his silence regarding the controversy.
Hype for 'Robsten' is officially over
"You never know what’s coming in life," the director told Metro. "Around every corner there’s something unexpected, and that’s life. You just have to brush yourself off and continue moving forward the best you can. Everyone makes mistakes. I am bound to make more mistakes and I wouldn’t expect my life to be exciting if I didn’t."
Despite his attempt to make up for his mistake, Rupert Sanders' wife, Liberty Ross, filed for divorce in January 2013.
Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, seemed to give up on having a romantic relationship with men and decided to be with a woman. The 26-year-old actress is currently dating model Stella Maxwell, who was previously linked to Miley Cyrus.
