Elton John has been detected with a “potentially deadly infection.” This has forced the singer to cancel all his upcoming shows for April and May. The infection is apparently “rare” and lethal at the same time.
What is Elton John suffering from?
Due to the infection, the pop artist has been advised complete rest so that he recoups quickly. Elton contracted the “harmful and unusual Bacterial Infection” on his recent tour to South America. On his return from Santiago, Chile, he became severely ill on the flight. He was kept in the ICU of a hospital in Britain.
The doctors treated him to remove the deadly infection from his body. They did not reveal the name of the disease.
Sir Elton John was released from the hospital on Sunday, April 22. However, he has been advised by the doctors to rest. According to his representative, the musician was thankful that the doctors were able to identify the infection early, before any complications. He is expected to be fit and healthy soon.
Concerts stand canceled
Due to the infection, Elton had to cancel all shows between April and May. The nine concerts which slated for Las Vegas and California have been canceled. The May 6 concert in Bakersfield has also been canceled.
His original scheduled performance date was from April 25, with the first performance at The Sin City.
The last show – expected to be the Million Dollar Piano show – was scheduled to be held at the Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Elton performed the first Million Dollar Piano show on September 11, 2011. It is the first time that the piano show would be canceled. The main attraction of the piano is its $1 million, 68 LED video screens.
The first store copy of the Million Dollar Piano was released in April 2014.
Elton John thanks fans for the support, apologizes
The singer shared a throwback picture of his performance in Brazil, citing how beautiful the performance was, along with the fantastic crowd. This clearly shows that he is missing performing for the fans.
Elton also thanked the doctors for treating him with such care and attention.
He thanked his fans and friends for being so understanding and also apologized for the cancellations. Fans who have already purchased the concert tickets can get the replacement on the card they used to buy them. Those who booked the ticket for the show through cash can visit the location they had purchased the ticket for a refund.
