There's a long way to go before "Deadpool 2" hits theaters next year and production is busy rounding up the squad for the second outing. Most recently in a surprise turn of events, Josh Brolin, who is already familiar to moviegoers as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was cast as Deadpool's colleague, Cable.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, revealing how Josh Brolin beat out "Stranger Things" actor David Harbour, Michael Shannon, and landed the role after Brad Pitt passed it on due to scheduling conflicts. Other names attached to the role were Russell Crowe, Stephen Lang, and Pierce Brosnan.

The imagining of Josh Brolin as Cable has arrived thanks to "Deadpool" creator Robert Liefeld, who took to Instagram to share a sketch of the actor in the role. The sketch is simply black and white and is a headshot of Brolin as Cable.

The 49-year old actor has joined Zazie Beetz, who was also been recently cast as another of Deadpool's squad members, Domino. Producer and star Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to announce her casting, and in true Deadpool fashion, has responded to the casting by tweeting the following.
