Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins recently found out the sex of their baby, and shared the adorable gender reveal video with their fans.

On Saturday night, the parents-to-be invited their friends and family over to reveal the sex of their baby. Ahead of the big reveal, Atkins took to Instagram to tease the event, sharing a picture of a half blue, half pink cake that read "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Atkins captioned the photo by saying: "... how we wonder what you are..." • • • guess what we're doing tonight :)."

Both Thomas and Lauren later shared videos on Instagram that showed the soon-to-be father cutting into the cake as everyone gathered around, anxiously awaiting the exciting news.

Lauren squeeled with excitement when Thomas pulled out a pink piece of cake, meaning that they are having a bouncing baby girl!

Pregnancy announcement

Rhett and Atkins announced their pregnancy on Instagram on February 15. The couple shared a photo of them holding giant balloons that spelled out "BABY," and revealed that they were not only expecting their first child together, they are also in the process of adopting a second child from Africa.

"We are so happy to announce that we are pregnant and we are in the process of adopting a child from Africa! Safe to say life is about to get crazy!" the country singer captioned the photo.

Atkins shared the same photo and wrote: "OH BABY!

actually...BABIES! Our hearts are exploding with happiness for y'all to meet our new baby who we are bringing home from Africa soon who is also going to have a little brother or sister because, SURPRISE! there's a sweet baby in my belly too #adopting&pregnant #cominginhot2017."

Keeping the secret

Although the couple is very excited to welcome the new additions to their family, they have been keeping the news mum for a while now. Atkins first discovered she was pregnant while on a safari in Tanzania with Rhett and their friends Tyler Hubbard, of Florida Georgia Line, and his wife Hayley. Lauren started feeling sick, and thought she had food poisoning, but then decided to take a pregnancy test after the group mentioned the possibility of her being pregnant.

Sure enough, the test came back positive!

Thomas and Lauren made the decision together to not announce their news until Lauren was past the first trimester of her pregnancy, and the adoption process was far enough along that they knew it was going to go through.

“It was almost impossible to not mention it during interviews on the carpet,” Thomas told People Magazine of trying to hide the pregnancy during the Grammy Awards, where he was nominated for his song "Die a Happy Man."
