"The Walking Dead" will premiere season 7B is two weeks. After months of silence and vague hints, a photo was released. It shows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) speaking to an unidentified person. He is also surrounded by members of a community that seem to live in a junkyard. There are clues in the photo that they might prove to be an ally to Alexandria. Could they end up joining the fight against Negan and the Saviors or be useful in another way?
New communities in 'The Walking Dead'
It was previously teased to expect Alexandria to get other communities to join the battle against Negan.
At the top of that list is the Hilltop Colony and The Kingdom. However, there are other groups that will also be seen in season 7B. One is Oceanside, the group Tara (Alanna Masterson) encountered when she got separated from Heath (Corey Hawkins.) Could the junkyard community be another one of those groups?
What is known about the junkyard kids
Even though this group is referred to as the junkyard kids, not all of them are young. Entertainment Weekly published a photo and it shows both younger and older survivors. In the background on the right-hand side, there is a grown woman. Not much is known about this group, but there are some clues in the image.
New group not a threat to Rick Grimes?
If you look closely, Rick Grimes does not have his gun in the photo.
However, that doesn't mean much since other groups forced Alexandria to surrender their weapons. The biggest clue that the junkyard community is not a threat to Rick is by the way everyone is standing. Their arms are hanging loosely at their sides and they don't look angry or defensive. They appear to be listening closely to what Rick and the mystery woman are saying.
If they were any kind of threat to Rick, it would show in their faces and/or body language.
Will junkyard group help Alexandria defeat Negan?
Right now, it is impossible to know if the new group will join Rick's battle against the Saviors and their ruthless leader. In an article by Entertainment Weekly, it was teased that several communities will end up connecting. However, that doesn't mean everyone will join the fight. Fans will just have to wait and see what happens when AMC begins airing new episodes of "The Walking Dead."
