The next Star Wars film -- "The Last Jedi" -- will be released on December 15th, according to Reuters. The film focuses on the characters from the first three parts of the series. "Star wars: The Last Jedi" will bring new adventures of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). The film was previously known as the 8th Episode.
The first trailer will be coming in a few months
Disney and Lucasfilm did not offer too many new details about the new film yet, but the fans can expect to see the first trailer in the next few months.
The new characters from the series, such as Rey, Finn, Poe, Dameron, and Kylo will certainly return, while classic characters like Luke and Princess Leia have already been confirmed.
Disney said in a press release that they have "the most wonderful fans from this galaxy or from any other galaxy," and they want their fans to be the first to find out the title of the next chapter from the new Skywalker saga: "The Last Jedi." The new film will be directed by Rian Johnson.
Carrie Fisher finished filming before her death
Carrie Fisher finished shooting all the scenes she appeared in before her sudden death in December, according to Disney. She will be seen in the movie, but no decision has been made about the fate of her character yet.
Disney said they are not negotiating a possible digital remodeling of the actress with her family, but they will try to keep the rights to use her images for other Star Wars products such as video games, toys, and promotional products.
