Amid the speculations about the marital chaos between Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, rumors are rife that Reed has replaced the Bulgarian actress Nina Dobrev on the supernatural show “The Vampire Diaries.”
Nikki Reed’s new character
A new character Sybil, enacted by Reed, will reportedly be introduced in the series. She will be portraying the role of Damon Salvatore's (Ian Somerhalder) love interest. The role of Sybil has been introduced after Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend, Dobrev denied taking up the role of Elena Gilbert any further.
Why Nina Dobrev not coming back?
It is believed that Dobrev might not be returning to the series due to her prior film commitments. However, series creator Julie Plec really wants Dobrev to join the series again for the final season. According to Plec, Dobrev had made a promise to her in the past that she would return if the series comes to an end. Plec is really hoping that the actress might keep up to her words.
Dobrev still needed
Her comeback was planned to save the dwindling ratings of the mystical series. Things between the real life couple Somerhalder and Reed turned up ugly when reports about Dobrev's comeback surfaced in the limelight. The duo was on the verge of getting divorced. If reports are to be believed, then Dobrev turned out to be a savior for Somerhalder and Reed's marriage by canceling her comeback.
Somerhalder, Reed mum on divorce
Somerhalder and Reed have not officially spoken about their divorce rumors or Reed's role in the series. However, a leading tabloid falsified the divorce rumors and clarified that all is good in the paradise. Somerhalder, after dating Dobrev for three years, tied the knot with Reed in April 2015.
Dobrev’s thoughts on “TVD.”
Dobrev shared her experience of working in “The Vampire Diaries” by revealing that she always knew that her character Elena Gilbert is only for the time being. According to Dobrev, she has fulfilled that time. She has not shed any lights on her possible comeback. She further added that she enjoyed her acting gig at “TVD.” She compared her experience with the series as a high school journey, adding that she has now moved on for college.
