The much-anticipated Victoria's Secret Fashion show happened on Tuesday, November 10 in New York City. This is one of the year's biggest fashion events, with people around the globe tuned in for details. It is not surprising that this event is one of the most-awaited by millions of viewers worldwide. Famous models from around the world - like Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, and Behati Prinsloo - strut their stuff wearing nothing but their skimpy, tiny lingerie.
Apart from that, the musical performers are also something to look forward to. Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and Adam Levine were among the top performers who sang their hits as models hit the runway.
It is truly a big event – with a number of intrigues leading up to it.
This year’s Victoria's Secret Fashion Show had about 500 applications from models around the world. At the end of the selection process, the 44 models were selected. Apart from the regular "VS Angels," the company decided to add some new names for this year's show. A few weeks before the event, the “New Angels” – as they are called - were released. The new VS models were Kate Grigorieva, Taylor Hill, Elsa Hosk, Martha Hunt, Jac Jagaciak, Stella Maxwell, Lais Ribeiro, Sara Sampaio, Romee Strijd, and Jasmine Tookes. In addition to this list, “besties” Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid were also included in this year’s event.
While the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan celebrated Kendall’s inclusion to this event, others were reportedly unhappy with this.
Around the same time VS announced Kendall’s inclusion to this year’s event, there were News that Jourdan Dunn posted a nasty message in her Twitter account (and deleted it) indicating she was “happy” not to walk in this year’s VS show.
Speculations were made on the reason behind Dunn's absence from this year's show. Some assumed that Jourdan voluntarily did not sign up for this year’s show, but others hinted that VS did not invite her to come back.
Some even speculated that Kendall “replaced” Jourdan. As if to make things more controversial, Rihanna (who was supposed to be the main musical act) backed out from the show – leading to more gossip that Kendall was the reason for this.
The Victoria's Secret Show may have started with all this drama, but last Tuesday’s event was nothing short of spectacular.
This year Lily Aldridge was selected to parade the “Fantasy Bra” on the runway. The $2 million lingerie adorned with about 6,500 precious gems was made by Mouawad jewelers and looked fab on Lily. Candice Swanepoel, who reportedly had flu prior the event, looked amazingly hot with her VS lingerie. Adriana Lima wore a sexy and classic lace ensemble and showed off her tight abs. Gigi Hadid, who broke up with Joe Jonas recently, looked fantastic in her emerald green butterfly-inspired lingerie. And of course, Kendall Jenner made her runway debut looking gorgeous in a lacy ensemble.
The event was a huge success and the entire intense workout paid off for these models. As Lily Donaldson said in an interview, they all look forward to the pizza party after the show – and it is easy to understand why they can’t wait to grab a slice.
