Halloween is right around the corner and with it creeping in on us, it is time to start watching the scary movies that make you jump at every noise you hear. Many of us have already started watching these movies, but for those that haven't, it's not too late! Sit back, start your popcorn, and be prepared to be scared out of your mind! Here are the scariest movies of all-time.

'The Orphanage'

This movie was released in 2007 and is one of the most overlooked horror films around. Produced by Guillermo del Toro, "The Orphanage" is about a family that moves into an old, historic home.

When their son starts to make friends with a ghost in their house, things begin to take a different turn. It turns out that this old home has some horrors to tell. This film will scare the pants off of you, but also has some truly emotional moments. No matter what you get out of it, you will be frightened!

'Inside'

French horror films have been getting more and more publicity and "Inside" is one that has helped their popularity grow. There is so much about this film that makes it one of the best. For those horror fans that love blood and gore, "Inside" has it all. The acting is much better than most horror films and it is only 80 minutes long. It is quick and to the point! In the film, a pregnant woman decides that she would rather stay in on Christmas Eve.

She just lost her partner in a terrible car crash so she is trying to mourn and prefers to do it alone. Suddenly, a crazed woman in black comes into her home wanting to cut out her baby! What follows is something you just have to see for yourself. This film is not for the faint of heart, so be weary.

'Poltergeist'

Fans of 80's horror films love this movie because of just how terrifying it is.

If you have never seen this movie, it takes place in a brand new suburb that was built on a burial ground. This already has the set up for a disaster. A kind and caring family moves into one of the new homes to build a new life. Their young daughter becomes charged with the energy of many spirits that are haunting their home.

The child becomes part of the spirit world when she is taken by the spirits in the home. The family calls on a medium to find their daughter and what follows is a supernatural thrill ride. This movie may look dated, but the special effects and scares know no age! This is one of the best movies around.

'Event Horizon'

For those of us who love sci-fi and space films, "Event Horizon" has it all. This film stars Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill. It takes place in the year 2047 on a rescue ship called the Lewis And Clark. The passengers on this ship are looking for a ship that has been lost in space called the Event Horizon. The crew of the Lewis and Clark begin to have bizarre hallucinations and strange things just keep happening.

There is plenty of blood, guts, and gore in this one too. Remember that in space, no one can hear you scream!

'Kill List'

"Kill List" is an English film that will give you some terrible nightmares! This film is about a military vet who finds his old partner to do some final hits for some extra cash. The violence and blood in this movie is just the beginning. What really gets into your head are the mental games that the characters play with their prey. This movie is one to watch in the daytime and with all of the lights on.

'The Exorcist'

"The Exorcist" is known throughout the entire world as one of those movies that you never want to watch alone. This film follows a young girl and her days possessed by the devil.

What is really bothersome are all of the comments that come out of her mouth when she is possessed. Her body also goes through some crazy changes during this time too. This movie not only scares us because of the gore, but also can mess with your mind in ways that you never thought possible. Do not watch this movie in the dark!
