It's been roughly two months since Pokemon Go had an event. With the last event only really giving out a brand new hat Pikachu and discounted raid passes, this event looks to give players a little bit more.
Get ready for the Equinox event
Starting this Friday, September 22 at 1:00 PM PT/4:00 PM ET players will be able to gain double stardust for catching Pokemon and hatching eggs, triple XP for new Pokemon registered in the Pokedex, and special 2KM that have rare Pokemon like Larvitar, Chansey, and Mareep.
In addition to this, the Pokemon Go shop will have special boxes that players can purchase.
They will include lucky eggs, lure modules, and the brand new super incubator item, which hatches eggs 1.5 times faster than a normal incubator. The event will end on Monday, October 2nd at 1:00 PM PT/4:00 PM ET.
Overall, I'm actually pretty excited for this event, mainly due to the fact that the game will be handing out double stardust. At this point in the game, I am level 39 and am struggling to power up my Pokemon to the maximum level due to higher stardust requirements. Hopefully, this event will allow me to get stronger Pokemon.
The other rewards are decent
I also like the idea of having rare Pokemon hatch from 2KM eggs again, similar to the Easter event. 2KM eggs are pretty easy to hatch, and I still need candy's to power up my Tyranitar, Ampharos, and Blissey.
Plus, I know plenty of people who still don't have Ampharos, so hopefully, this can help them get closer to that goal.
The other rewards are nice, though I don't think they will be of much help to me or other incredibly high-level players. Getting triple the XP for new Pokedex entries is nice but at this point, there are only a few Pokemon left that I need.
The legendary dogs are supposed to rotate soon, so at the very least I'll get triple experience for the next one. Although this reward doesn't help me, I'm sure it will help new players who downloaded the game and old players getting back in. This will be especially important for old players who quit playing before generation 2 was released, as there will now be a ton of brand new Pokemon for them to catch and level up quickly.
I am cautious about these "super-incubators" though. Yes, they do hatch eggs 1.5 times faster, but that also means they will burn through your money 1.5 times as fast. Unless these incubators are cheaper than the normal ones, I don't see myself buying them after this event is over.
Overall though, this event looks very promising, and it will definitely get people going outside this weekend. I still hope that Niantic does a Halloween event though.
