We are seeing moves by ryan pace to finally shore up our terrible defense. After sitting through all the big plays that were given up last year, something had to be done. There were some curious moves made so far with the Bears in free agency to add major depth that they desperately needed. The plan for the Bears won't be completely clear to fans until we see the NFL draft. Being so terrible last season, having the 3rd pick and the 36th pick is like having two first round picks. The talent will be there to make our defense very good if the Bears stay healthy.

Roster moves

The Bears have been aggressive this offseason, picking up some corners and safeties. With all the injuries we saw last year this had to be done. Kyle Fuller just cannot seem to stay healthy and looks to be a bust of a draft pick. The Bears have added three second chance guys with Prince Amukamar, Quintin Demps, and Marcus Cooper. All three of these guys have been injury-prone and don't really move the needle for me. Don't get me wrong, they all are major upgrades at the defensive back position the Bears needed. In the offseason, we will see one heck of a battle for the starting spot at corner. Prince and Marcus will be fighting Tracy Porter, our only good corner on the team, to start.

Other news that is coming from Halas Hall is that the Bears are planning to move Deiondre' Hall to safety.

Hall played a lot of safety in College and the Bears are hoping that those skills will transfer to the pro level.

Deiondre' is a 6'2" 200-pound corner so this could be a good move. We must see if his speed will carry over into the position. This shows, with the new additions, that Kyle Fuller might be the odd man out and get cut before the season starts.

Draft picks

I have changed my tune a little bit with our 3rd overall pick. At the beginning of my research, Malik Hooker was high on my draft board for Ryan Pace of the Bears.

Now I am all-in on Jamal Adams with this pick. The 6' 200-pound safety is the hard-hitting type of guy the Bears have needed for the past 12 years. The last safety the Bears had that played this hard was Mike Brown.

If Chicago doesn't take a safety with this pick because we go after the best player available, Obi Melifonwu with our 36 pick will do just fine. Obi was the winner of the NFL combine with his size, speed, and agility. He is a 6'4" safety that is 224-pounds and can run a 4.4 40.
