Kyle Larson was on fire the whole race at the Auto Club Speedway. The Monster Energy Nascar cup driver holds the overall points lead with finishing 2nd in both the previous three races. The four late re-starts didn't stop him from winning at Fontana and grabbing his second career victory. “Lots of fun to be Kyle Larson right now,” Larson said in the winner's circle. “Our race cars are really fast in Xfinity and Cup, so it’s a blast to show up to the racetrack every week.”

Kyle Larson started out fast from the beginning

Kyle was the best car from the beginning of the weekend. He claimed the second pole of his short career on Friday.

Then he proceeded to with the Xfinity Race on Saturday. The 24-year-old became just the fourth driver to win both races in one weekend at Fontana. The late drama of the race was at the end when there were a bunch of cautions and the four tires that Kyle got before the final caution of the day. The fantastic re-start that he got allowed him to take almost a one-second lead to take the race in the two overtime laps. This marks the second win for Kyle -- the other coming at the other 2-mile track at Michigan. Coming in second was Brad Keselowski who continues his hot streak and then Clint Bowyer. This was the best finish for Clint Bowyer since June 2015. It was his first top-five finish in 52 races.

Multiple cautions with only a few laps left

Kyle Larson chose to do the right move and get all four tires changed out with seven laps left. He was fast enough to get out of the pits to claim the fourth position in the re-start.

It was only two laps later that he took over the first place spot ahead of the three drivers who chose not to pit. As soon as he took the lead there was another caution that allowed him to keep the lead but forced another re-start. With one more jump there was just no one fast enough to catch Larson's car.

According to Jeff Cluck, he has just been on a mission in his last seven races. Those include 6 top five finishes and 1 twelfth place finish.
