Part of the U.S. State Department’s mission is to foster stable conditions for American people and advise the President on foreign policy issues. They protect and assist U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad and keep the public informed about U.S. foreign policy and relations with other countries, including Russia. State Department staffers are worried and sounding an alarm. Key State positions are still not being filled and most civil servants are left in the dark as to what is going on at their workplace. One employee who says she used to love her job, pointing out that in the old days, if she left the office before 10:00 p.m., that was a good day.

Now, she leaves by 5:30 p.m. The days of listlessness is taking a toll on the staff and anxiety has spiked. People are not sleeping well, just sitting around and taking long, aimless lunches.

Taking a bulldozer to the U.S. government

Another employee added that the decision circle is smaller. The mid-level officer stated that the administration really wants to blow the place up and don’t seem to think the State Department needs to exist. He added that the administration seems to think Jared Kushner can do everything, which was reminiscent of developing countries where he served and the families rule everything. The White House does seem to be shaping up to be an extension of or turning into part of the Trump organization where the advice of loyalists override that of government expert officials.

One staffer says she learns about what is going on at the job through the news because there has been no daily messaging which is also crucial for U.S. diplomats located all over the world. People are flying blind. Another staffer mentioned not having a deputy and other key positions was going to be a problem very soon because the world will not stay quiet forever.

State Department staff is worried about the state of their agency and on Tuesday, President Trump confirmed one of their fears on “Fox and Friends” when he said there was a reason why he was not filling certain government posts: “They’re unnecessary.”

The Russians aren’t coming, they here

There is an alarming trail of breadcrumbs leading to Russia.

Why? No matter what party or which candidate wins the White House, why is it okay to have Russians meddle with our election or play a significant role in manipulating and dismantling our democracy. What happened to land of the free and home of the brave? People don’t generally leak information because of personal dislike. They usually do it because something horrendous this way come. Has history taught us nothing?
