On Tuesday, Democratic Representative from California Maxine Waters once again stated further calls to impeach President Donald Trump. Waters has been called on her congressional colleagues to quickly impeach Trump if there is evidence that shows collusion with the Russian government during the 2016 Presidential Election.

Various U.S. intelligence agencies, like the FBI and CIA, have already concluded that Russian hackers hindered the 2016 Presidential Election with the main goal of helping Donald Trump win. This got made official yesterday when FBI Director James Comey confirmed under testimony that the FBI was investigating Russian involvement in the election, as well as possible coordination between associates of Trump and Russia.

The House and Senate Intelligence Committees are also holding their own investigations to look into the matter. Impeachment has happened twice to presidents in U.S. history, as President Richard Nixon resigned while the impeachment process was underway. Presidents Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both acquitted of impeachment by the Senate.

Ties to Russia

Over the past couple of months there have been many reports that have linked members of Trump's inner circle directly to Russia in some way. Donald Trump and the White House ardently rejected these reports, saying that the communications were harmless. So far no 'smoking gun' has been found that would definitely prove there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.

However, a number of people in the Trump campaign like Paul Manafort, Carter Paige, Rodger Stone are all being investigated for having ties to Russia. His former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn resigned after it got discovered that he met with Russian officials as a private citizen and may have received money from the Russian government.

It was also revealed that Attorney General Jeff Sessions met with the Russian Ambassador twice during Trump's campaign and that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had done business in Russia when he was Exxon's CEO.

The possibility of Trump's involvement

Is it possible Trump's team and appointments had all of these ties with Russia and Trump was not involved?

Maybe the Russian government knew many of Trump's people had ties to Russia and that they could cause chaos in the U.S. government without Trump and/or his team colluding with Russia? It is also possible Trump could have known what was happening and either played along or let it happen to help him.

In the end the FBI and other agencies are investigating all of this and hopefully the questions can all be answered soon. However, if Trump is involved in any way or knew of these ties but ignored them, then it is guaranteed that he would be impeached.
