On Thursday, a high school student in California who taped his high school teacher, Gregory Salcido, criticizing the United States armed forces, specifically, the Marine Corps., appeared on Fox News’ program, "Fox & Friends." The student, Victor Quinonez, who wants to enlist in the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school, used his IPhone to record Salcido condemning U.S. military members and calling them the lowest of our low.
Salcido’s comments recorded on student’s phone
As seen in the video that has spread across the Internet, Salcido, who, in addition, serves as a city councilperson, raged to the students in his classroom about why they ought not to enlist in the armed services.
Salcido told his students to think about the enlisted people that you know who are over there: "Your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumbsh***. They’re not high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, and they’re not intellectual people. They’re the lowest of our low."
Quinonez on receiving death threats, the video recording
Quinonez, who’s a senior at the El Rancho High School in California, described how the episodes evolved by telling "Fox and Friends" how Salcido noticed his U.S. Marine sweater and his classmates' t-shirt and then took offense to Quinonez and the other classmate’s attire, and said to him, "you too?" Quinonez was then told by Salcido to stand in front of the class and tell his classmates why he wanted to join the Marines.
Quinonez told him that for him, it was an honored tradition in the his family, and that he wants to continue that tradition since some in his family have served, and that he still plans to join the Marine Corps. As a result of Quinonez’s stance, he stated that he has many who do support him, and he is okay if others don’t support him, but he revealed that he and his family have received Death threats.
He said that he is more concerned about his siblings and his parents than himself concerning the death threats.
Gregory Salcido, a teacher at the California El Rancho High School, was placed on administrative leave, and also was removed from his duties as a city councilman following the release of the footage, which is now all over the Internet, and the audio even resulted in a statement from Trump’s Chief of Staff, former U.S. Marine Corps. Gen. Kelly, who stated that Salcido ought to just go to hell.
