The two presidents agreed on the necessity of the significant improvement in the economic cooperation between their countries.
Trump stated that the American companies see great potential in Ukraine. Among other issues which Poroshenko was going to discuss with Trump were the situation in Donbass, the supply of lethal weapons to Kiev, and possible US assistance in carrying out reforms in Ukraine. He later tweeted that "It is nice that American business leaders welcome tangible progress in reforms in Ukraine".

At the briefing after the meeting, Poroshenko mentioned that Trump supported the initiative to deploy the UN peacekeeping mission in the conflict zone in Ukraine, including along the Russian-Ukrainian border. Poroshenko said he highly appreciated the cooperation between Ukraine and the US and noted the increase of trade turnover between the two countries.
President Trump stated his intention to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as economic reforms, which will lead to the economic growth and defense capabilities.
