As the jackpot increases, more and more people will fork over $1 for a ticket. That sometimes leads to multiple winners who have to split the jackpot.
Sharing a big pot of cash isn't really a big deal — especially when the jackpot that stands at $393 million. And if no winning ticket is drawn on Friday night, the jackpot will be well over $400,000 for the next drawing on Tuesday night (August 15).

According to the official Mega Millions website, the drawing took place at approximately 11 p.m. ET. The winning numbers drawn on Friday night are as follows — 23-33-53-56-58 and the Mega Ball is 6.
Any winners? We're not sure yet. The results are still pending and could be for several more hours before lottery officials verify if a winning ticket was sold and where it was purchased.
How much money will the winner take home?
If someone has a ticket that matches the Mega Millions numbers drawn on August 11, they will have to pick either a lump sum (based on the cash value) or a 30-year annuity.
Of course, the winner won't take home $393 million in cash. First, there are taxes to pay. Yes, Uncle Sam will take a good chunk of change out of the windfall, but there will still be more than enough to enjoy.
The lump-sum payout is based on the cash value of the jackpot —$246,500,000. According to USA Mega, 25 percent is immediately withheld for federal taxes. So, that means $61,625,000 will be deducted from the payout, leaving you with a total cash payment of $184,875,000.
State taxes are also deducted from the jackpot amount. However, f you live in one of the following states —California, Delaware, Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming — you will not have to pay state taxes on your Mega Millions lottery winnings.
The Mega Millions drawing takes place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 pm. Tickets are currently $1 each, but you can pay an additional $1 for the Megaplier feature. If you win a non-jackpot prize, the prize amount will be multiplied between 1x and 5x the original amount.
