Ike Kaveladze has been confirmed to have witnessed the private meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Atty. Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in Manhattan last June 9, 2016. According to a CNN report, the eighth person is the senior vice president of a Russian company called Crocus Group run by Aras Agalarov.
Who's the eighth person at private meeting?
Kaveladze's profile says that he worked for the Azerbaijani-Russian oligarch even before the latter hosted the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow. Atty. Scott Balber said his client is a long-time U.S.
citizen who is fluent in Russian. He, however, denied that the tycoon is involved with the Russian government.
He went on to reveal that the investigators of the Special Counsel are currently digging for information regarding the presidential son's private meeting -- which was attended by at least eight people.
"The eighth person has been identified by prosecutors and we are cooperating fully with prosecutors as a result of the investigation," Balber explained. The attorney added his client has yet to be interviewed on the issue. Balber, who also represents Emin and Aras Agalarov, explained that Kaveladze initially thought he would serve as Veselnitskaya's translator during the private caucus.
He later found out that the Russian lawyer had already invited a translator to attend the meeting.
What was discussed during June 2016 caucus?
Kaveladze also stated that the discussions in the meeting revolved around the Magnitsky Act and the policy on U.S. adoption of Russian children. His statement supports Sean Spicer's report during his Monday press briefing.
The White House press secretary underlined that the June 2016 meeting was held to talk about these two subjects and nothing more.
"There was nothing, as far as we know, that would lead anyone to believe that there was anything except for a discussion about adoption and the Magnitsky Act," Spicer told the members of the media.
These testimonies support the presidential son's initial statement before he confessed being offered with damaging information against Hillary Clinton. Trump Jr. even disclosed his exchange of emails with Rob Goldstone, who made the proposal as part of the Russian government's effort to support Donald Trump in his presidential campaign.
The reams of email proved that the presidential son was fully aware of what the meeting was all about. His private meeting with Veselnitskaya was attended by Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Rob Goldstone, Rinat Akhmetshin, Ike Kaveladze, and a translator for the Russian lawyer.
