Perhaps one of the better appointments of President Donald Trump is that of former Gov. Nikki Haley to United National Ambassador. She presented her credentials and then signaled that she is going to be a UN ambassador in the mode of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, John Bolton, and Jeane Kirkpatrick.

First Ambassador Haley offered the olive branch, according to the New York Times, when she said, ““You’re going to see a change in the way we do business. Our goal with the administration is to show value at the U.N., and the way we’ll show value is to show our strength, show our voice, have the backs of our allies and make sure our allies have our back as well.”

The statement was an apparent reference to the betrayal of American ally Israel by allowing a resolution to pass the UN Security Council that attacked the Jewish State.

Ambassador Haley had a stick to apply as well. She said, ““For those who don’t have our back, we’re taking names; we will make points to respond to that accordingly.”

Americans have always had an antipathy toward the United Nations, as an institution run by corrupt, third world tyrants that, far from promoting peace and freedom throughout the world, has done quite the opposite. Since the passage of the anti-Israel resolution, anti-UN sentiment has reached new heights, with bills in Congress mandating a reduction in America’s financial contribution to the world body. There is even some sentiment for pulling out of the UN altogether and giving the institution the boot from its headquarters in New York.

Ironically, Ambassador Haley’s confrontational stance will likely keep the United States in the UN, if only to provide Americans with the pleasure of seeing her take names (ass kickings no doubt to follow.)

Can Ambassador Haley bring the UN back to its stated mission of promoting peace and freedom? Likely not, but the world body will provide a venue for her upholding American values while being a terror to the smarmy third world tyrannies and the spineless European democracies that infest that institution. A lioness is on the loose at the United Nations and all should tremble as a result.
