Cyprus-based band
The Alternative Rock band have just released their latest single entitled 'Reboot,' and though a full-length release is to be expected, there is currently no confirmed date for the full-length release. The smallest Creature includes Stefanos Marnerides taking up vocals, guitars, and songwriting duties, Iacovos Stylianides filling in on drums, and Stephanos Nicolaou on bass.
As far as the single itself is concerned, 'Reboot' starts out with very clean, shimmering guitars and bass. Mildly distorted vocals introduce the first verse in melodic fashion, with melody lines playing out over the foundation of acoustic guitar.
Things pick up after the first verse with driving drums as the level of intensity amplifies considerably. Things kick into high gear as all instruments fire on all cylinders, creating a Pop/Rock track that's very easily mainstream accessible, a track that will certainly appeal to US and other global audiences.
To draw a few comparisons, The smallest Creature is reminiscent of a slightly heavier version of U2. What really sets the track apart and drives it home is the attention to detail when it comes to crafting beautiful melodies, and as far as melody craft goes, The smallest Creature have fashioned themselves a true gem with 'Reboot.'
Moody, atmospheric Rock
As far as the video itself is concerned, it's not really anything to write home about, with some mild graphics and a picture slideshow, however, in a strange way it actually works well for the track.
Because there isn't a ton going on within the actual video, this leaves the listener free to focus on the one thing that matters: the music.
Ultimately, The smallest Creature certainly make a big impact with 'Reboot.' As a listener, if you consider yourself a fan of moody, atmospheric Rock with layers of nuance and intrigue in abundance, you certainly owe it to yourself to give this band a listen.
And, while there is no current word as to when their full-length album is to be released, if the full-length is anything like this single, listeners definitely have something to look forward to in the near future.
