The brand name-loving wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, (Scottish actress Louise Linton) got trolled on social media for flaunting her expensive clothes in an Instagram post. Her use of the hashtags of the designer labels in the photo, which showed her and Mnuchin disembarking from a government plane on a day trip to Kentucky, led a mother of three to comment negatively on Linton flaunting her wealth.
The 36-year-old Linton, who married Mnuchin in June, used the hashtags #rolandmourtpants, #tomford, #hermesscarf, and #valentinorockstud heels in the photo she posted on Monday.
The commenter, jennimiller29, criticized Linton for bragging about her expensive clothes on a trip to Kentucky -- which apparently was paid for by taxpayers.
One thing we learned about Louise Linton, wife of Treasury Sec Steven Mnuchin, is that she's just as awful as her husband (h/t @skenigsberg) pic.twitter.com/RCOAFTdCpq

Linton deletes post
In her response, Linton wrote: “Did you think this was a personal trip?!” She asked jennimiller29 if she thought the U.S. government paid for their honeymoon and personal trip, and if the woman had given more to the American economy than she and Mnuchin as a taxpayer, or self-sacrifice for the country. She shot back, “Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours.”
Linton ended her reply by thanking jennimiller29 for her passive-aggressive nasty comment, The New York Post reported.
Although she eventually deleted the post and changed her Instagram account to private, netizens took screenshots of her comment and the photo and tweeted it.
Aside from jennimiller29, other netizens also criticized Linton for flaunting her brand name clothes. For instance, emily.e.dickey wrote: “Please don’ tag your Hermes scarf.
Distasteful.” Another commented, “It’s wrong for Louise Linton to mock this mother of 3 for having less money than her.”
another reason why so many people despise the members of our govt. Louise Linton can dress in designer clothes. Still a classless pig! https://t.co/PNe0nTwnVM

The wealth that Louise Linton flaunts was built by her husband on the backs of hardworking Americans that had to foreclose on their homes.

I genuinely didn't ever think I'd see a more repulsive exhibition of white privilege than Jared Kushner. Then I saw Louise Linton.

Cost of Linton’s attire
Time broke down the cost of her outfit based on information provided by Twitter users who showed receipts as proof.
The #roulandmoretpants cost $925, the #tomford sunnies could be between $380 and $1,950, the #hermessscarf was worth $780, and the #valentinorockstudheels had a price tag of $945. The grand total was estimated to be between $3,030 and $4,600. This is loose change for Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs partner that Forbes estimates is worth $300 million.
The Telegraph reported that a spokesman for the Treasury Department said that the couple reimbursed the government for Linton’s travel. The spokesman added that the actress was not paid by the fashion labels she mentioned in her post.
The Oregon-based jennimiller29 made another Instagram post and had the last word when she described Mnuchin’s wife as a “deplorable girl I had never heard of until today,” The New York Daily News reported.
