Unicorn frapp ends its reign. Say hello to Starbucks' Mermaid Frappuccino

After the Unicorn Frappuccino became a hit, the starbucks Mermaid Frappucino is the next social media star which is as colorful as the Unicorn frapp. This cool new drink with a combination of green and pink colors is indeed intriguing. The drink was created by Jocelyn Freeman of The Modern Barista since the Unicorn frapp, which was a limited edition last month, sold well. The new drink attracted the attention of many Starbucks followers after it was shared on Instagram.

What are the green and pink colors?

The Mermaid Frappuccino has the colors green, pink and even purple in it.

It is a combination of vanilla bean base blended with freeze-dried blackberries. It is then drizzled with toasted coconut matcha sauce. To make the drizzle, combine eight pumps of white mocha, and three scoops of matcha in a pitcher, along with three pumps of toasted coconut. Once this is drizzled in the cup, it creates a lovely green streak.

Freeman said that the drizzle can also be made using a sprinkle of matcha powder and the taste is still delicious. She also said that the drink is actually a "Pokemon GO" frapp without the raspberry syrup. Since the frapp is based on a standard build, it wasn't very hard to make.

Why is it called a Mermaid Frappuccino?

The beverage is named as such because of its colors.

It is reminiscent of the colors featured in Disney's "The Little Mermaid" since she wears purple seashells and has a green tail.

Since the Unicorn Frappuccino is gone, other baristas experimented with multi-colored frapps which include the Dragon Frappuccino and the Narwhal Frappuccino. The Dragon frapp is a Green Tea Crème Frappuccino with vanilla bean powder and berry cup swirls.

As for the Narwhal frapp, it is made by mixing together blended strawberry lemonade with vanilla bean powder, and a dollop of whipped cream.

If you don't want these colored drinks, you can try the new Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino which is the exact opposite of these drinks since it is extra-dark. Either way, these are some creative twists on the classic Starbucks Frappuccino.
