Now that the holiday season is upon us, many people will be hosting or attending parties. For those who enjoy indulging in alcohol at such events, a start-up brand known as “Two Chicks” might hold certain interest. Akin to Skinny Girl beverages, “Two Chicks” vodka promotes health-conscious and delicious drinks. California State University graduate Meghan Hanna is the owner and CEO of the company that offers cocktails without extra calories. Meghan recently discussed her career and her hopes for the 2017 and beyond.


Blasting News (BN): What inspired you to open your own company?

Meghan Hanna (MH): Two Chicks came about after one of my besties made a comment about being a “fat girl on a diet” while we were having some drinks. I told her then and there that I was going to bottle that attitude. By attitude, I mean the attitude women typically have of not being enough. Skinny enough, smart enough, pretty enough, etc. WHY? It’s crazy! I wanted to create a brand that not only made it okay to be you, buy have some fun with it along the way. Two Chicks is the club everyone is invited to….no judgement, no competing with each other…just support despite differences. When we can learn about each other and our experiences, that is how we connect and find the common bond. That’s Two Chicks.

BN: Had you had any managerial experience before?

MH: I have never had my own company before, but always knew that I would.

BN: Where did the name “Two Chicks” come from?

MH: Two Chicks is about you and your chicks…whoever that is for you. The women tribe!

BN: What were your interests growing up?

MH: I played a lot of soccer growing up and didn’t have time for much else.

BN: Thus far, what has been the best part of working in this industry?

MH: Taking the idea I had while sitting in the backyard and now seeing it on the shelf has been an incredible experience.

BN:Where do you see your career ten years down the line?

MH: I see Two Chicks as not only the biggest RTD Cocktail brand, but I see other products that align with the brand identity. Personally, I see myself investing in other women entrepreneurs.

BN: Do you have any upcoming ventures that you would like to mention?

MH: Two Chicks is my focus right now.

BN: What advice would you give to someone who is aspiring to start their own company or brand?

MH: If you are passionate about something and can’t shake the thought…go for it. Passion is everything…if you don’t have that, when times get tough you’ll throw in the towel. It is a lot of hard work and perseverance; it has to be as important to you as the air you breathe.
