During the Halloween season, it's easy to find plenty of horror Games to try out. Unfortunately, people often overlook the tamer Halloween-themed games in favor of their more adult-oriented counterparts like "Friday the 13th" and "Outlast." If you aren't looking for a visceral survival game or FPS, you may be having trouble finding something festive to pass the time.

'Haunt the House: Terrortown'

"Haunt the Hause: Terrortown" is a cute game available on Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and the PlayStation Vita. Developed by SFB Games, 'Haunt the House' puts players in the role of a ghost on a mission to scare everyone away from various locations by possessing and animating an absurd number of objects.

The sheer number of maps and interactable objects makes the game well worth the USD 4.99 it costs. By combining engaging gameplay and a gorgeous Art Style, this casual game will keep players entertained for hours.

'Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion'

One can find a similarly charming art style in "Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion," (formerly known as 'Spooky's House of Jump Scares') a free-to-play game by Lag Studios. The goal of the game is to make it through 1000 procedurally-generated rooms while being chased by increasingly creepy and creative monsters. The game transitions from cute to creepy with the Steam page asking, "Can you survive 1000 rooms of cute terror? Or will you break once the cuteness starts to fade off and you're running for your life from the unspeakable hideous beings that shake and writhe in bowels of this house?" If you don't think 1000 rooms are worth the price of admission (free), the DLC, "Karamari Hospital" is available for USD 1.99 and gives you a new environment that is even more difficult than the first!

'Bendy and the Ink Machine'

While technically a horror game, the Meatly's "Bendy and the Ink Machine" features rare jump scares, but almost never attempts to scare the player directly. Instead, 'Bendy and the Ink Machine' creates a phenomenal atmosphere of an animation studio run by a man who acts as a blend of an H.P. Lovecraft protagonist and Max Fleischer.

The first chapter of the game is free with the following two available at USD 4.99. While playing the available three chapters will run you only a few hours, The Meatly has yet to announce how long the wait will be before the final two will be released. When we look past the gameplay issues, the story presented is unique and nuanced in a way we rarely see.
