2018 is shaping up to be an outstanding year for Microsft, at-least when it comes to their console. The Xbox One X is set to launch this November, and it will officially mean that Microsoft has the most powerful gaming console on the market. It might not compare to any decent gaming PC, but it blows away the original Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
Microsoft has been lagging behind Sony for all of this generation, so they are hoping that there updated console bridges the gap. Although the Xbox One X is impressive, it does not solve the major issue the company has faced for this generation - the lack of console exclusives.
You could have the most powerful PC in the world, but if there are no exciting games to play on it, it is just a glorified Blu-Ray player.
Major games which will be released on all platforms will benefit from the processing power of the Xbox One X, although it depends on how well they take advantage of the new hardware. Saying that the PlayStation 4 has a lot of exclusives scheduled to be released in 2018, considerably more than Microsoft's console.
Let us take a quick look at three games which will not be on Sony's device.
'Crackdown 3'
Probably the most highly anticipated console exclusive, this open world action-adventure allows players to unleash their frustration by destroying buildings and anyone that stands in their way.
It was originally set to be released this November but has been pushed back to spring 2018.
'Sea of Thieves'
"Sea of Thieves" looks almost too good to be true, but we trust Rare to meet our expectations. Set in a shared open world, this multiplayer adventure game allows the player to form a pirate crew and set sail on the high seas.
From what we have seen so far, it is a gorgeous game that prioritizes exploration, freedom, and teamwork.
It is not a single player experience, so people who do not enjoy interacting with other players should see if it is worth their investment, but we are pretty excited for it.
'State of Decay 2'
A follow up to the original 2013 release, "State of Decay 2" is set in a post-apocalyptic world infested with zombies.
This is a challenging survival game and is best when played with three other friends. From the little we have seen, it looks like a solid improvement over the original. On the other hand, if there is one genre that is already over stuffed with games is the zombie survivor one. Let us see if "State of Decay 2" can bring anything new to the table.
