Many now believe that the next big reveal of the hotly anticipated PS4 video game, “The Last of Us 2”, is at PlayStation Experience 2017 after a huge no-show at the recently concluded E3 2017. But a new teaser photo from game director Neil Druckmann himself has brought tons of excitement to fans who have been eagerly waiting for the sequel’s release.
Fans were dismayed when “The Last Of Us 2” skipped E3 2017 and Naughty Dog had to let its other big project, “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”, shine at Sony’s presser. “The Lost Legacy” is a standalone expansion of the studio’s “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” that is due for release on Aug.
22, 2017, as another PS4 exclusive game.
Neil Druckmann tweets new teaser photo
But Druckmann does not cease to give the fans the freshest update on the development of “The Last of Us 2” on his official Twitter account. Ahead of the game’s rumored big appearance at PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2017 in December, he shared a new teaser photo that is surely a delight to fans.

The latest image reveals another behind-the-scenes motion capture session, this time, of a pig that has drawn tons of excitement from Druckmann’s loyal followers. Writer Halley Gross also tweeted a video of herself feeding the same adorable pig during the shoot.
Ellie as playable character
Rumors swirled earlier that the main protagonist in the original title is dead and won’t return in the next installment of the series. However, Ashley Johnson who plays Ellie debunked the “Joel is dead” theories when she tweeted a photo of herself with Joel actor, Troy Baker, wearing their mo-cap suits at the studio.
Naughty Dog also confirmed that Ellie will now be the main protagonist and major playable character in the sequel as seen in the game’s first official trailer at last year’s PSX.
"The Last of Us 2" and Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" were not included in the list of PS4 major games showcased at E3 last June, which then sparked speculations that these two titles will be the stars of the show at PSX 2017.
This year's Sony-centric event will be held on December 9-10, 2017 at Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
Sony and Naughty Dog have yet to announce the official release date of “The Last of Us 2” and from the looks of it, it might take some time. It is said that at the moment, only a small team is assigned to work on the second title and the production is making yet a slow progress. But game analysts suggest that it will hit the store shelves around late 2018 at the earliest or towards 2019.
